“My name is Jerome Melt, I am from Martinique and living in London. When I left school I started my first job working at Patisserie Hurbert, a well known local bakery in Martinique. I later travelled to France and continued my career working as a pastry chef where I developed my skills as a baker. Friends and colleagues recognise my creative skills and passion for baking and regularly asked me to bake birthday and celebration cakes. I received very good feedback that the guests enjoyed the cakes. I have been baking and cooking for various events over the years and now want to start my own patisserie business in London where I can bake cakes and bread in the Martinique tradition.” |

“My name is Monica Reynolds, I am from Jamaica and a long time friend of Jerome Melt. I had the opportunity to visit Martinique in January 2020. Martinique has many interesting and vibrant places to see and enjoy. I visited the botanical gardens where they grow a variety of plants and flowers. Martinique has some of the most wonderful beaches with lovely blue seas and golden sand. The traditional creole food was delicious with many local drinks to tantalise your taste buds. I enjoyed the culture, music and traditional dancers. Martinique is a beautiful French Caribbean Island where the people are friendly and welcoming.” |

“Jerome started baking at home and offered these cakes and other sweets to residents of our neighborhood. This passion comes from his father, who was also a pastry baker.
Our paths crossed again during this vacation in Martinique where I was honored to bake a delicious fruit cake that we had tasted following a work meeting. I still remember that cake that tickles my taste buds” |
